Norfolk Schools Challenge Match
Norfolk County Development Officer Mark Dare reports on a school challenge match held on Tuesday 10th January 2012.
City Academy School, Norwich visited Hewitt School, Norwich for a 10-a-side school table tennis match, featuring pupils from years 9, 10 and 11. Both schools have thriving after school clubs and as a result the quality of play on show was extremely high. Each player played 2 matches in a best of 3 game format.
The first 10 matches were shared, Hewitt opening up an early 4 – 1 advantage before being pegged back by City Academy. In the remainder of the match, the extra experience of the City Academy team began to show and they raised their game to run out eventual 13 – 7 winners.
A big thank you to Ian McLean and Simon Goodwin for arranging the match.
Both schools are keen for further matches so are there any other Norfolk schools who are keen to take up the challenge? The format of the matches can be agreed between schools.
If you are interested in taking up the challenge please e-mail me firstname.lastname@example.org and I am happy to help in the organisation.John Andrews
